Research Interests.—Taxonomy, systematics, distribution, ecology, and biogeography of Recent mammals, especially bats and rodents of America, as well as bats, primates, and rodents of West Africa. Distribution, ecology and status of amphibians and reptiles in North America. Full text of "Balkan Biodiversity [electronic resource]: Pattern and Process in the European Hotspot" See other formats.

This book is timely because, in recent years, population outbreaks of rodents in the rice-cropping systems of Asia have escalated. There has been precious little formal documentation of the factors that lead to rodent population outbreaks, their impacts, and the successes and failures of management actions, particularly in developing countries. AbstractOur aim in this study was to further the understanding of the taxonomic relationships and the evolutionary history of grey voles (subgenus Microtus, or arvalis species group) by establishing a cytochrome b (cytb) phylogeny with special emphasis on three species occupying Southwest Asia: Microtus mystacinus (levis is a synonym), Microtus obscurus and Microtus by:

Etude craniomé trique du. Introduction. The genus Microtus Schrank, (Rodentia, Arvicolinae) constitutes an excellent case of rapid and extensive radiation in mammalian evolution.

In fact, it represents one of the most speciose mammalian genera of the Northern Hemisphere, including about 64 species in 15 subegenera, thus accounting for almost half of the extant arvicoline species (Shenbrot and Krasnov ).Cited by: An Atlas of the Geographic Distribution.

Cowpox virus (CPXV) is a zoonotic virus and endemic in wild rodent populations in Eurasia. Serological surveys in Europe have reported high prevalence in different vole and mouse species.

Here, we report on experimental CPXV infections of bank voles (Myodes glareolus) from different evolutionary lineages with a spectrum of CPXV strains. All bank voles, independently of lineage, sex and age Cited by: 6. Biology of the laboratory mouse.
